Labor Day usually marks the end of summer and the start of a new school year, but the reason we celebrate this holiday is actually pretty rad.
After the start of the organized labor movement, unions inNew York facilitated a parade in September 1882 and took an unpaid day off of work to celebrate.The movement caught on across the country and, within five years, other states started declaring Labor Day as an official holiday.
